Been looking forward to this for awhile...

The trailer for Water for Elephants. I absolutely adored the book and am hoping that the movie will do it justice. Seems a little more love-triangly than the book, but there is so much pretty to look at. Hal Holbrook already made me cry. Not as hard as he did in Sons of Anarchy...but close.

La Momma Morta

this will forever remind me of being 15 years old and laying in an uncomfortable bed in Malaga, Spain with my headphones on and the soundtrack to Philadelphia playing in my portable tape deck. and I rewound and rewound and rewound and listened to this song all through the night.

Yeah I've been a dork for a long time.

I literally have ZERO skills when it comes to self-portrait taking. Not only does living in a basement provide the absence of light necessary to produce an image, but it was so bright OUTside today that it looks like I was sitting on the surface of the sun. By the time I hit the timer, focused (or so I thought) and parked my ass on my piano bench (that was sinking into the grass) I was lucky if the top of my stupid head made it in the frame. Plus my camera was balanced on top of my set of Twilight novels, my A&P book and lab manual, an old foot rest and the wooden bench Brandon's grandpa made.

PorOr

had a great mini-break to Portland, Oregon for a friend's wedding at the end of last month. we'd never been there before. alas, we didn't have time to take the Twilight tour (ha, no seriously) but we did do a bunch of thrift store browsing/shopping, way waaaay too much eating, and took in a lovely ceremony in the woods.

That mural on Bowery and Houston that I keep posting about has changed again. From Keith Haring to Os Gemeos and now...Barry McGee and Josh Lazcano.

Fall Creek Falls

Back to school. The break was too short but I managed to fill it up with some great times with great friends. My semi-yearly-regular hop to Tennessee was this time punctuated with a brief but exciting frolic up the side of a waterfall.

It was so dry that we could hop-scotch across it and right up to the edge to look over.

Bank Square Coffeehouse

I have some of my photos hanging in the Bank Square Coffeehouse in Beacon! It's a great little cafe with great coffee and beautiful artwork year-round. Stop by and check it out if you're in the area. My stuff will be up til the end August.

Electric Windows 2010

Last weekend marked the return of the Electric Windows installation to Beacon.

"30 artists will converge in Beacon, NY to create live artwork and have their work installed on the exterior of a 19th century factory building. "

I stopped by later on in the afternoon after most of the wall murals had already been completed and a majority of the canvases were near completion.

Of course after everyone un-converged, this is what my town looked like on Wednesday afternoon at 5pm.

Works in Progress

A week or so ago I spent the day with my friends Anne and Rob chasing the sun and looking for breaks in the rain where we could take some engagement photos that could be used for their Save-the-Date. They're big into nature so it was a win/win for me :)

Brittany and Jonah's Wedding

I had the pleasure of attending a friend's wedding in Seattle at the end of April and was graciously asked to help photograph the festivities, which was a tremendous honor. Thankfully I was more serving as a back-up for the unbelievably talented Natalia Kutsepova, so the pressure was not quite as intense. it was thrilling nonetheless.

Thom Yorke and Atoms for Peace

A few of my favorite photos from the night one of the Atoms for Peace shows at Roseland Ballroom in NYC. Taken with my droid believe it or not. Not bad, huh? Grainy Thom is good.

turkey vultures

I made Brandon pull over when we saw about a dozen of them on the lawn of the old Butterfield Hospital. I crossed the street and approached them, but of course they took off when I got too close. I've never seen that many together in one place before and I haven't seen them there since.

redesigned website

Christine Wright Photography

it's up! it needs a ton more photos but at least the format is done and it's just a matter of bulking up and moving stuff around within the framework of the site. it's such a satisfying load of my mind to have finally worked it out. I went with Wix, a flash website builder that has loads of user-friendly templates to chose from. It was still a challenge and the profanities flowed like wine while I was doing it, but hey, if I can figure it out, anyone can.

I've been so busy lately that I need a corkboard in my brain to put all my random sticky-note thoughts. But I'll just put them here so I can look through them later.
