...it's the absolute WORST in every way. i'm never going to have my site redone at this rate. there's no way I'm resizing every single photo, the templates are shit, it's impossible to navigate. i just hate it.
sigh. aaaanyway.
I just sent in a few images to the mill st loft in Poughkeepsie to be considered for their 30th anniversary art show and silent auction. The deadline for submissions is tomorrow and I got the email......yesterday. No pressure. It's a long shot anyway I suppose.
St. James Chapel
Breakneck Ridge
I'm not exactly sure what the jury is looking for since there was no specific theme mentioned. I chose a few random images that have done well in the past.
I never get tired of walking past the Mars Bar on 1st ave, as I did on Saturday, even though I've yet to go inside. The outside does me just fine.
The New York Road Runners Manhattan Half-marathon was this morning in Central Park and the dear old husband ran a fantastic race. 258 out of 5,000 or so. Proud. The spectrum of runners was astounding. Most astounding were the orange-haired old ladies stopping at the drink table after the first mile and socializing like it was tea-time. I was stumped by their behavior.
^^^ an appropriate use of the beverage table.

around back
I love the backs of buildings. behind things. That's where the really interesting stuff is. The front is what people want you to see. The back is where they keep the rest of it.
Brandon thought I should crop out the garbage bin in the bottom right, but I think it might be the best part. Especially since there's evidence that using the bin might be a challenge to some. *notice empty can of Cobra (classy) and the plastic bags that could so easily have made it in.
ps - I just noticed you can make images different sizes.

One Step Beyond

"A new monthly series that rocks with live music and dancing at the Rose Center for Earth and Space"
funnest idea ever, right? and even though I didn't get down and boogie on the dance floor (more like I wandered around like a tenth-grader on a school field trip), I was reminded how we are all insignificant specks of dust on the windscreen of the observable universe, thanks to the Tom Hanks-narrated space show that was playing on the second-floor planetarium. only catch was you had to sit through the new Fischerspooner video first.
the observable universe. that will be the name of my new imaginary band.

Liars have a new album, Sisterworld, out officially in March and have announced April tour dates at the Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg. So of course it got me to remembering the first time I saw them at the Warsaw in Brooklyn back in 2006 with my friend, Jess. I had no idea who they were or what the fuck I was in for.
I mean, can you EVER be fully ready for that????
getting tea-bagged by Angus while people ate potato pancakes in the adjoining room? yes please.
and then a year later at the same spot with No Age opening.
always a good time. I'll be getting tickets. thank you.

Sewing up 2009
Organizing an external hard drive packed with thousands of photos is a daunting task, but one that must be faced in order for my brain to motivate in any forward facing direction.
These are a few of my favorites from '09. The last two were featured in the Art Along the Hudson gallery exhibit and the rest are from various live shows I attended throughout the year.
Deer Tick, NYE 2008 - Knitting Factory, NYC
Animal Collective - Grand Ballroom, NYC
Patrick Wolf - le Poisson Rouge, NYC
Beirut - Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn
The Falls
In due time, autumn too vanishes

it's a new decade!!
and i'm trying something new. a dedicated photo blog. let's see how it works *fingers crossed* i'm hoping to do a complete overhaul of my website in the next couple of months or as soon as possible. it's my resolution for the new year, along with attempting to get my stuff out into the world as often and in as many ways as possible.
i'll still be updating my tumblr from time to time, because it still amuses me, but I'm trying to take a new direction with my photography and create a space that's dedicated to it's progress and upkeep. please tag along and keep me company :)
